Breakfast brief
Cloudier in the NW with patchy rain

More cloud to the north-west with spells of rain, while drier and brighter at times to the south and east.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

Some patchy mist and fog to start the morning, this clearing to allow for some bright or sunny spells to develop in the south-east.

More extensive cloud in the north and west, with outbreaks of rain here. Rain continuing into the evening too, slowly sinking southwards on a cold front, and turning chilly in any clear slots.

Wintry showers then blowing in behind to north-west Scotland by the end of the night and into Saturday morning. Winds strengthening here too.

What's coming up in the news

Your final weather trend of the week will arrive this afternoon with all the details you need for the coming cold snap. Plus, the fourth and final supermoon of 2024 rises overnight, we'll have all the details later this morning.
