Close to record-breaking
A wet autumn season in the books

September saw above average rain in all parts of the country outside of northern Scotland.

Did you feel the rain in autumn? Provisional figures show that the UK recorded 20% rainfall than average this year.

This was led by the third-wettest autumn season in Northern Ireland and 10th-wettest in Wales since records began.

Making autumn the only season of 2025 to see above average rainfall.

Elsewhere, northern England saw a 45% increase on the long-term average.

Temperatures were also slightly warmer than average, but failed to match the record-breaking warmth seen in spring and summer.

Figures for Ireland are yet to be released, where monthly anomaly maps for September and November also show greater amounts than average.
