Poor air quality over UK and Ireland

AQI mapAir quality over England and Wales is poor today alongside much of Europe.

Air quality is poor across much of England and Wales on Wednesday, do you know how to stay informed on current conditions near you?

As the latest Saharan dust storm reaches the Canary Islands we have our own air quality index to worry about.

Seen on the AQI map above, much of the UK is experiencing poor to moderate air quality although Scotland and most of Ireland fare better.

The difference in air quality is matched by the current state of air pressure. High pressure prevails over England and Wales, creating stagnant air in which pollutants remain still in one place.

Low pressure is covering much of Ireland and Scotland with stronger winds and heavier rainfall helping to clean the air.

Did you know that you can check the AQI levels in your area using the Weather & Radar app?

Current and forecasted air quality is available on your home screen, wherever you are.

See today’s levels and expected quality for the coming four days.

Check out the air quality near you now from the home screen and take a glance at current weather conditions anytime using the WeatherRadar.
