Breakfast brief - Thunderstorms and continued heat

A mixed day brings thunderstorms in Scotland, continued heat in large parts of England, and widely calm conditions across the UK and Ireland for wind.

Highs of around 30 °C in south-east England, and down to 24 °C as the high for Ireland in Cork. More unsettled in the north with rain passing through Scotland turning thundery in the afternoon.
