Breakfast brief: Sunny start for Ireland as winds grow

The clouds part over Ireland this morning, while the UK sits under overcast skies into the afternoon as winds strengthen over Scotland.

Early day sunshine is best found across much of Ireland this morning, with the UK mostly covered by clouded skies into the afternoon before some evening sun over much of Scotland, northern Wales, and some patchy breaks elsewhere.

Fewer showers with a mostly dry midweek period despite the overcast conditions, with stronger winds across much of Scotland, and in the Shetlands, where gusts reach around 45 mph.

The warmer temperatures reaching double-digits are beginning to fade once again, though remain across Scotland and Ireland for the time being.
