Breakfast brief: Dull again, rain and gusts in Ireland

Overcast conditions continue to persist, with heavier rain and growing winds later in the day across Ireland.

Across the UK, it is another gloomy day, with some light showers. Similar in Ireland, though from midday a band of heavier rain moves north-east through the country.

Wind gusts grow in strength in Ireland by the afternoon. Rising to peaks of around 50 mph (80 km/h) along the west coast.
