Breakfast brief - Cloudy with spots of light rain

A good deal of cloud across the board for the UK and Ireland, bringing some patches of light rain.

A locally chillier start under any clear breaks across the likes of Cork where temperatures will be around 6°C, but generally milder elsewhere.

Fairly cloudy across the board with patches of light rain or drizzle at times, though a few brighter spells breaking through at times too. Mild with temperatures widely reaching the mid-teens.

High pressure is resting over us at the moment, but the common thought is that high pressure brings dry, clear skies... so why is it so cloudy? We're taking a look later this morning.
