A widespread blustery day for the UK and Ireland, with the strongest winds across Scotland and Northern England, locally gusting up to 50 mph, particularly downwind of the Cairngorms and Pennines. Western exposed coasts of Ireland will also see winds gust 40 - 45 mph.

Otherwise, a damp and cloudy start in the south-east with showery rain clearing eastwards, with some showers across western Scotland too. However increasing amounts of sunshine will develop through the day.

Clouding over once again from the south-west through the evening and overnight, bringing some patches of rain.
