Weather myths
Balancing eggs on the equinox

Balanced eggsToday is the only day you can balance an egg upright... according to an old myth.

A peculiar myth around today’s equinox is that today is the only day of the year where you can balance an egg.

The myth suggests that with day and night in equal length, there is a change in gravity too.

Thanks to this gravity shift, you can balance an egg. But you don’t need us to tell you that is not true…

There is no change in gravitational forces during the equinox that would impact an egg or anything else on the planet.

If you really wanted to you could balance an egg on any day of the year, it just takes quite a bit of patience.

Maybe the myth originated due to the familiar sight of Easter eggs related to the season.
