Clouds on the move
North-south split in conditions

Friday morning begins with a clear north-south divide.

There is a split in conditions Friday, with plenty of sunshine across much of the UK and Ireland, but decidedly gloomier in Scotland.

Temperatures reflect the differences too, much cooler under the cloud cover for Scotland compared to another day of touching 30 °C in southern England.

This begins to shift in the afternoon, with Ireland, Wales, and much of England away from the southern coast seeing increasingly overcast skies.
