China's Chang'e 5 lunar mission has revealed the presence of a new mineral on the Moon, called Changesite-(Y), the sixth found by mankind on the Earth's satellite.

The material collected by the Chang'e programme, named after an Asian goddess associated with the moon, will help to understand its origin and evolution, as well as the possibilities for utilising lunar resources.

In recent years, China has reached milestones such as landing a probe on the far side of the Moon in January 2019, an achievement that no country has ever achieved before.
