Weekend outlook - Showers persist with mild air

The weekend begins with widespread showers across the UK and Ireland, but temperatures are mild.

Saturday remains mostly cloudy, as the showers move through. Further north, in Scotland, there is more persistent rain and snow still falls over higher ground.

In Ireland, it is a misty start to the weekend instead. Patchy rain remains, mostly in the north, but it is dry elsewhere other than showers to the south.

By Sunday, rain sticks around in the UK, though it is drier and brighter in the south as the showers remain to the north and west.

It is drier too in Ireland, with sunny spells through the day after a possibly misty morning.

Highs across both countries reach the low double-digits.
