Weather trend: Azores High set to bring next heatwave

Another warm spell is in sight, after a brief period of more unsettled conditions over the coming days.

The weekend outlook sees isolated showers, predominantly situated over western Scotland, north-east and south-east England. More broadly, plenty of sunny spells, albeit with a gusty few days.

Next week remains changeable to begin with, and on the cooler side, with some periods of rain passing through Ireland into western Scotland.

Temperatures begin to warm significantly from Tuesday, initially in southern England and Ireland, before widely warmer over the weekend.

By the end of next weekend, highs reaching into the 30s are possible across England once again, with another heatwave likely to be declared. Not quite so hot across Ireland, where highs will remain around the mid-20s.

This is thanks to the arrival of an Azores High, dragging warmer air over the UK and Ireland from the Azores Islands.

During this period, it remains mostly dry in the south to start with, and more broadly by Wednesday.
