Weather trend: Some sunny spells at times, but plenty of rain and wind, too

Weather trend
Sunny spells, but wet and windy for some

Atlantic low pressure systems will continue to play a major role in our weather throughout next week, with a mix of rain, wind and brighter interludes.

The unsettled theme continues over the next couple of days as new weather fronts are expected to cross Ireland and the UK, bringing further spells of rain or showers.

This westerly to southwesterly flow could actually bring some quite significant rainfall totals in some areas, particularly around western coasts and hills.

Depending on the exact interactions between developing lows and a strong upper-level jet stream, there is potential for some strong winds at times as well.

Whether or not we will see the first named storm of the season 2025/26 remains to be seen, however, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast next week.

Temperatures are likely to be broadly similar to what we have seen so far this month.

Both daytime highs and overnight lows should be around or just below what we typically expect around the time of year.

Factor in the wind and it could feel rather chilly at times, but there is scope for some warm sunny spells as well.
