Weather trend - Mixed weekend as Erin remnants arrive

Conditions over the weekend bring plenty of cloud, showers, and grow increasingly gusty as the remnants of Hurricane Erin arrive for bank holiday Monday in the UK.

High pressure prevails in large parts of the UK and Ireland into the new week, though persistent winds from the north deliver cloud cover and some fog patches.

Saturday sees some showers breaking out in Wales and northern England. More widely throughout the day across Ireland.

The best of the conditions will be felt in south of England and Wales where there are more frequent sunny spells, highs remain pleasant throughout the weekend into bank holiday Monday for the UK.

Before that, Sunday brings a clearer picture with a return of sunshine for a short period for England and Wales. Rain stubbornly remains over western Scotland.

Conditions take a turn on Monday to start the week as ex-hurricane Erin arrives to the west of Ireland, bringing gusting winds of around 45 mph (72 km/h) to Galway and the west coast.
