In our apps, you have the option of retrieving weather information for your location. For this purpose, we process device location data solely for our own purposes, namely to provide location-based weather information. Your device location data is not shared for advertising purposes.
We may process the location data of your device (e.g. GPS or cell tower location data) only if you expressly permit access. When you first launch our app, you will be asked whether you wish to allow access to your device’s location information.
The legal basis for this processing is your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) DSGVO). You may withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future by disabling location access in your device settings.
If you give your consent, we will obtain access to your precise location, depending on your device’s capabilities and your system settings. We process these data solely to display weather information for your current location. If you do not give your consent, you may instead manually select the desired location using the location search function in the app.
Further explanations of the different types of location data and the available settings on your device can be found in the documentation provided by the relevant operating system manufacturer:
By purchasing the respective Pro version of our apps, you have the option of using our apps ad-free. When purchasing the Pro version, we only process a device-specific ID and the purchase date.
You may also use our apps without advertising by making an in-app purchase. For an in-app purchase, we process only a device-specific ID, the purchase date and the expiry date.
With regard to obtaining and managing your consent to processing operations under this section, we proceed as follows:
The legal basis for managing user consents and adjustments to and withdrawals of user consents via Sourcepoint is Art. 6(1)(c) DS-GVO and § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. This processing is necessary so that we can comply with our legal obligations and provide you with digital services to the extent requested.
You can adjust or withdraw your consent to personalised advertising and the associated data processing via the privacy settings as follows:
If you wish to use our apps free of charge, we display advertising. Below, we explain which data our advertising partners process about you, who our advertising partners are, and how you can consent to the processing of data for usage-based online advertising, adjust your consent and withdraw it:
For ad delivery (i.e. the technical administration, brokering and allocation of advertising space, the display of advertisements and the billing of advertisements), we use Google Ad Manager from our advertising partner Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We also work with other advertising partners to optimise ad delivery.
Your personal data are processed in connection with ad delivery. During ad delivery, we and our advertising partners use your IP address (and approximate location information that can be derived from it), device and user identifiers, device information (in particular the operating system, operating system version and language settings), and information about your use of our app, for example which content within the app is accessed or clicked and how long you remain there. These data are used so that you see only advertisements which, in our opinion and that of our advertising partners, take your potential interests into account (personalisation).
The allocation of advertising space (i.e. which company’s advertising is shown to you) is carried out partly by automated means in so-called programmatic advertising auctions (real-time bidding procedures). In this process, the information and identifiers referred to above may be transmitted to our advertising partners so that they can decide in real time whether and which advertising is shown to you.
Data processing in connection with ad delivery may also be used to measure the reach and effectiveness of advertising campaigns, limit the frequency of advertisements, detect fraud and misuse, and ensure the technical reliability and security of ad delivery.
The legal basis for the aforementioned data processing in connection with ad delivery is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) DS-GVO and § 25(1) TDDDG.
Your consent is required if you wish to use our apps free of charge. If you do not want this data processing, you can take out a paid WetterOnline membership. You can then use our apps without advertising.
Where we display advertising in our free apps on the basis of your consent, the following advertising partners (also referred to as vendors) process data for the delivery of usage-based online advertising:
In connection with ad delivery, certain advertising partners may also process your personal data outside the EU, particularly in the USA. For transfers of data to certain third countries such as the USA, the European Commission has adopted a decision pursuant to Art. 45 DS-GVO confirming that the third country provides an adequate level of protection for your personal data. Where no such adequacy decision exists for a third country, your rights are protected by other appropriate safeguards pursuant to Art. 46 DS-GVO (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or certifications designated by the European Commission).
Our apps use Firebase Analytics (also known as Google Analytics for Firebase), an analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”), to analyse user behaviour and to integrate the Firebase Cloud Messaging services.
In this context, the Firebase SDK (Software Development Kit) collects information about the app version, the device model, the operating system version, the time of app installation, as well as the user's age, gender, and interest groups. Furthermore, information about certain actions is collected by the Firebase SDK during use of the app. Actions such as installation and launch of the app, app updates, uninstallation, operating system updates, deletion of app data, app crashes, and in-app purchases, as well as receiving, swiping away, and opening push notifications, and opening and updating the app via a dynamic link, trigger the event-driven data collection of the Firebase SDK. For each of these events, the number of calls, the number of users triggering this event, and, where available, the value of the events are collected. To identify devices, the Firebase SDK uses the device-specific advertising ID.
This data processing takes place on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) DSGVO. To prevent the collection and processing of data by Firebase Analytics in our apps, you can proceed as follows:
As part of the data processing, data are transferred to servers of the parent company Google LLC in the USA and processed there. Google LLC, as a US company, is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. An adequacy decision pursuant to Art. 45 DS-GVO therefore applies, meaning that personal data may be transferred to the USA without further safeguards or additional measures.
In our apps, we integrate the so-called Facebook SDK, a service provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland. This software allows us to track which advertising campaign on the Facebook social network prompted users to download our apps. For this purpose, we send Facebook the device-specific advertising ID, the app version, and information indicating that the app was launched or closed.
This data processing takes place on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) DSGVO. To prevent the collection and processing of data by the Facebook SDK in our apps, you can proceed as follows:
As part of the data processing, data may be transferred to servers of the parent company Meta Platforms, Inc. in the USA and processed there. Meta Platforms, Inc., as a US company, is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. An adequacy decision pursuant to Art. 45 DS-GVO therefore applies, meaning that personal data may be transferred to the USA without further safeguards or additional measures.
Our app uses the service of AppsFlyer, an analytics service provided by AppsFlyer Ltd. (14 Maskit St., Floor 6, POB 12371, Herzliya 4673314, Israel). To improve the content and usability of our apps and our advertising measures, and thereby optimise the user experience for you, session, interaction, and marketing data about you is processed for this purpose. This data is always collected in pseudonymized form and evaluated only on a pseudonymized basis. Depending on the campaign, the data is shared – in anonymized form – with connected advertising networks. The data is used exclusively to measure the success of marketing campaigns and to improve them.
We have entered into a data processing agreement (DPA) with AppsFlyer pursuant to Art. 28 DSGVO, so that AppsFlyer can process your session, interaction, and marketing data on our behalf. The data processing covers the following data:
This data processing is carried out on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) DS-GVO. To prevent AppsFlyer from processing data in our apps, you can proceed as follows:
As part of the data processing, data may be transferred to servers of AppsFlyer Ltd. in Israel and to servers of AppsFlyer Inc. in the USA and processed there for the provision of services, maintenance and support purposes, and data backup. An adequacy decision pursuant to Art. 45 DS-GVO applies to both countries, meaning that personal data may be transferred to Israel and the USA without further safeguards or additional measures.

Parts of the content of our apps are provided via the Contentful Content Delivery Network (CDN) of Contentful GmbH (Ritterstr. 12-14, 10969 Berlin). The Contentful CDN allows us to avoid having to define a fixed presentation format for content in our apps in advance. Instead, we can flexibly display content in our apps via an interface. When accessing this content, a connection is established to servers of Contentful GmbH.
We have entered into a data processing agreement (DPA Data Processing Agreement) with Contentful GmbH pursuant to Art. 28 DS-GVO. On the basis of this data processing agreement, your IP address and information about the user agent you use (the general term for all programs used to communicate with web servers) are processed by the Contentful CDN solely for the purposes referred to above and to maintain functionality and security.
The personal data are processed on the basis of our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) DS-GVO.

When you access a page on which playback devices for streams are offered, information about your user agent and your IP address, with which you use our app, is transmitted to the servers of the above-mentioned providers.
In each case, the processing of your personal data takes place on the basis of our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) DSGVO.
We only show you embedded third-party content after you have given your express consent. We request your consent via a preliminary window preceding the embedded content. If you then consent and use such a third-party offering, we process, in any case, your IP address.
The legal basis for the data processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1), sentence 1, point (a) DSGVO. Your selection will then be stored permanently (for no longer than 12 months) on your device as a cookie named “embed_consent”. Consent can be withdrawn at any time here.
